If I am a provider/vendor/submitter not currently enrolled in NY Medicaid, but want to submitt EVV data to eMedNY, do I need to enroll in Medicaid to submit EVV data?

Yes, in order to submit EVV data to eMedNY, you must be enrolled in NY Medicaid. Enrolled providers will be able to utilize their eMedNY credentials (MMIS ID or NPI) to begin the process of submitting EVV Data with the eMedNY web service restFUL API.

Outline below are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Enroll as a NYS Medicaid Provider and get an MMIS ID, if not currently enrolled
Step 2: Determine who will be your "submitter" (you can be your own submitter)
Step 3: If your submitter is not yet enrolled as a Medicaid Provider, have them enroll as well
Step 4: Have the submitter obtain the login credentials for the eMedNY Web Portal, so that they can gain access to the API Developer Portal - https://portal.emedny.org
Step 5: Using web portal credentials, login to https://developer.emednytest.io (available now for testing) OR https://developer.emedny.io (PROD which will be made available later), to request API keys.

A.	No. Enrolled providers can utilize their eMedNY credentials (MMIS ID or NPI) to begin the process of submitting EVV Data with the eMedNY web service API. If you are an enrolled provider who will not be submitting your own EVV data, your EVV vendor/submitter must also enroll/be enrolled. Vendors can enroll by visiting https://www.emedny.org/info/ProviderEnrollment/svcbur/

Q.	I already have access to eMedNY's file transfer services, like eXchange/FTP etc, can I just use that method to submitt EVV data?

A.	No, the process of submitting EVV Data with the eMedNY web service API requires registration in the eMedNY Web Portal. This is the only method used to submit EVV data to eMedNY: https://portal.emedny.org.

Q.	I have many enrolled provider MMIS IDs, which one should I use to enroll in the eMedNY Web Portal to be able to use the restFUL API to submit EVV data?

A.	You can use any of the MMIS IDs to register in the eMedNY Web Portal and use as the submitter ID in the API. This MMIS ID is used just to gain access to the API for EVV data submission. However, please note that the provider MMIS ID used in the payload should be the same as the provider MMIS ID used for the claim submissions.

Q.	I just tried to register for the Provider Web Portal on the emedny website, and it is requiring a MMIS ID since we do not have an NPI. Where can I get this MMIS ID?

A.	Most providers are required to have an NPI, some may be exempt. The MMIS ID is the NY Medicaid Provider ID number. If you are actively enrolled you can obtain your MMIS ID here: https://health.data.ny.gov/Health/Medicaid-Enrolled-Provider-Listing/keti-qx5t If you are not yet enrolled, you will need to enroll using https://www.emedny.org/info/ProviderEnrollment/, vendors use https://www.emedny.org/info/ProviderEnrollment/svcbur/

Q.	Our agency is NPI exempt, we have a Medicaid provider MMIS ID. Can we use that to enroll in the Provider Web Portal or should we get an NPI?

A.	Your Medicaid provider MMIS ID can be used to register in the eMedNY Web Portal and to request an API key. Atypical providers do not require an NPI to submit EVV data.
